iMala had left nothing to chance.

The null room was near the center of the station. iMala stepped in and sealed the door behind her. This was only going to take a few minutes of her time, but things had to be just right.

The Shipping Authority wanted advancement, because they wanted a working garden. They also wanted a means to advance their own personal, private project, and iMala was about to show them how much she could advance something. If they wanted it or not.

She even had a video feed, so she could watch the progress.

At first, the other people on the station went about their business as if there was nothing wrong. That was fine, and it showed that the technique would work without adverse effects. That was the point. This was an experiment.

iMala sat down and had a drink while the dreadfully rapid forms on her screen flashed by.

Ah! There. They realized something was wrong. It must have had something to do with the scheduled supply shipments. Water was being used more quickly than planned. The rations were near their end before the arrival of new. That would need to be worked on.

The station MeiPing was working at fifty times normal time. iMala was very pleased that she could work the advancement in a stationary object that was not in field. This meant she could advance something that was not in transit. That had always been an annoying obstacle.

A slight pang of hunger made iMala break into one of her rations. And it had only been a year! That would need to be worked on as well. No one would be able to tend a garden in such a state. She'd have to adjust the null room before she could report her findings.

The other members of the station had evacuated, once the reality of what was happening sank in. The experiment would need to end. She could not get proper readings if people reacted this way.

Once she was alone, iMala halted the advancement. Everyone was gone. No one would ask her irritating questions.

She even held the door open for her automatons. The MeiPing was too large for her to run herself, but she was satisfied that no one would bother her from here out.

And she had an old ship to renovate. It was only a section of Vencume ship, but it was where she had grown up and there were adjustments to be made before she started her next project.
