Last Sunday, after checking out the hotel, I posted this:

It didn't get a lot of retweets, but the picture made the rounds on Tumblr.

Later, another group put together a parking map and I tweeted that.

Now, I know this looks kinda weird, but really, a lot of this DOES happen on Twitter. The hash-tags collect the information and it's a quick and easy way to get info out. It's not a LOT of info, but a link to a map or a menu? Yeah, it's good for that.

And Twitter is how I found out what was going on with the lines at the convention.

Because, you see, the same hallway served the lines to the dealers' room, artists' alley, and registration. As a matter of fact, registration was at the FAR END BACK of artists' alley. Problems continued the next day.

The fustercluck is outside the #AKon24 #dealersroom has worsened to the point of not allowing our own Dealer-badge-wearing staff back in.

It got so bad, A-Kon had to address the issue directly.

But, the problems continued.

And some tried to defend the con.

So much negativity about #Akon24. The lines WERE horrendous but it's the first year at a new hotel. They will work out the kinks next year.

I spent a fair bit of cash- ok, way too much- at the hotel bar listening to the gripes of a number of people who didn't have panelist badges and couldn't force their way through the Tunnel of Hot Stink like I could... if you weren't there at the crack of dawn and bought a one-day pass , it sounds like you pretty much got SHAFTED in a major way.
