RE:
Mailer sent to my mom

To whomever is in charge of Ed' mailing lists;

On Saturday, I went over to see my mom, Mary-Jane, to wish her a happy birthday. She was going through her mail, which was mostly birthday cards.

We noticed that Mr. Oakley (or a member of his staff) had sent a letter endorsing Delia Jasso. It's a very nice endorsement and full of all sorts of little details that help voters make an informed decision about the people asking to represent them. Constituents like to feel that their council-member knows them and understands their needs.

The other little detail I noticed about the letter was it was addressed to “Alex & Mary-Jane”. While it's good that you got my mom's name right, I'm not sure how Dad would feel about this. Probably nothing, considering he died last September. I think there might have been something about it in the paper(s).

Anyway, it's just one of those little details. Having already read the letter at Mom's, I didn't even have to open the one waiting for me at home.

Looking forward to the election,

ME!

P.S.: I haven't forgotten about TimberCreek.

Twisting the knife? Reminding a public official of how badly he - I was going to say "let down" but let's just go with it - screwed the people he is fucking paid to represent? You let him off easy.

After reading the articles, it's pretty damn clear that Oakley DID accurately serve the people he's paid to represent. The problem is that those aren't the same people who VOTE.

The constituency of an elected official is the entire voting district regardless of whether or not they vote. Whether they pulled a lever or not, if a person lives in his patch, he is paid to serve them. All of them, to the greatest extent possible.

He definitely did some 'serving' - that much is true.

I don't have a dog in THIS fight, but it's a nice reminder that I need to try and figure out which -if any- of the people up for election here in Tumorville (aka Arlington) aren't pavement-contractor snuggling creeps. Even a measly park and ride to the TRE station outside city limits would be a vast improvement over the situation right now.
