I went driving today, hoping to get a picture of a memory.

When I was a kid, this was one of my favorite things at Kidd Springs Park in Oak Cliff. I drove to where I thought it would be: the playground near the pool.
The playground was looking pretty scarce. The climbing tower made of railroad ties was gone, as was the dolphin.
The dolphin I have managed to get a picture of is over at Reverchon Park in Oak Lawn. It is no where near a playground, but sits by itself. This is very sad.
I remember you could get multiple kids hanging off that tail.

To be fair, Kidd Springs isn't looking too hawt by any measure.
EDIT: I've found pictures online of the dolphin in Hyde Park, Columbus, OH, Saginaw Zoo, some back lot, New York (on the side), being used correctly in the 80s (scroll down), and--most interestingly--a new one being installed in Newport. I'm going to see if I can contact the Newport folks and find out where they got it.
It looks like it may have been designed by Jim Miller-Melberg. Comments here say the dolphin could be purchased from Wausau Tile, which is who bought Forms Inc, according to Jim.
