thinking about bad guys

I don't think bad-guys are real.

I don't think anyone wakes up in the morning and says, "Today, I am going to be evil." If they do, they're very easy to defeat.

I'll go ahead and take this to the extreme. I don't think Hitler ever thought he was being evil. He thought what he was doing was right, and was the best thing he could do. The people who went along with him didn't do it because, "Ho ho, we're so evil," but because they thought they were right and what they were doing was necessary.

I could say the same for any boogaboo. White Power assholes? They think they're right. The Taliban? They think they're right. Birthers or the Tea Party or Communists or Anarchists? They all think they're right.

This makes conflict much more interesting. It's not that there's evil in the world, as much as there's ignorance or greed or laziness.

So there ya go. The Beccaners? They think they're right. The Shipping Authority or the Portmen? They think they're right. The VTs think they're right. It becomes less a conflict of people and more one of ideas and that's far more interesting. Everyone is a pawn of a flawed ideal. No one had all the information, and they all think that sacrifices have to be made to get the correct outcome.

It's very messy, but it's more real.
