I just finished the first draft of the book. Now it just needs feedback and re-writes.
Here's the elevator-pitch:
Dr. Rebbecca "Becca" Tabib and engineer Evie Gaines are crew members on the deep-space freighter Tong Dizhou when it picks up a Vencume escape-pod. The Vencume, an alien race that has had limited interaction with humans, warn the crew that "Tzikzik" are coming, but never explain what "Tzikzik" are. It is not until the Tong Dizhou itself is attacked, and the crew rescued by the Vencume, that Becca realizes how damaged her friend Evie truly is, and how dangerous the army the Vencume have created from Evie's DNA will be. Becca now has to help avert a war that may be started by the creation of an army that does not know how to be human, based on a woman who does not know how to be human herself.
