lolotehe: kitties (Kitties!)

That little son-of-a-bitch could have been at PetCo this weekend getting adopted.

All his siblings have homes! And Dmitri and Alexei were adopted together, which makes me feel great they were able to stay together.

I’d left the cat carrier in the room for the last few days, with the door open, so the kids could get used to it and it not be scary. They were even playing in it Friday night.

Saturday morning, when I went in there, they knew something was up and scattered. All the boys ran into the bin, but Alexei decided I was going to have to chase her around the room. Once I picked her up, she calmed down and started purring, so I don’t know what their deal was.

And the best part of the bin is, it makes it much easier for me to pluck kittens out of that than running around the room.

When I walked in the Petco, a girl there saw the carrier. “Is that a dog or a cat?” I let her know it was kittens and she clapped her hands over her mouth and let out a squeal. “Oh my god, they’re adorable.”

Turns out, a woman had seen Ivan’s picture on the FeralFriends site and decided he was the one. She just lost an old cat to feline leukemia and, in a fit of grief, had tossed all his stuff. But her dog’s been moping and the house just seems a little empty without a cat.

And she’s keeping the name Ivan. “He’s gonna be a big boy!” she said, and thinks Ivan is a great name for a big cat. And he’s going to be a big, soft, loving cat.

Everyone at Petco wanted to see them, at least. They are very cute. And everyone involved was happy they’re fixed already and had their shots. That was a bit of a surprise, but it saves folks money.

Now I just have to level up Pavel for the next adoption event.
